Just got into an accident and they want to write off my car.. need advice
Hi everyone,
I was in a very unlucky accident with my Evo 9 MR and they are saying the repairs are costing 23k so they are writing it off.
I have the option to take 15k cash and get the car back so I am wondering if it is possible to repair for a reasonable rate.
Here are the most expensive parts, is it possible to save on any of this?
R Front Combination Lamp Assembly MN161940 2,131.02
Hood Panel 5900A138 2,044.24
Fender Panel MN150624 655.18
R Drive Axle Shaft Assembly -M MR953746 1,291.59
Frt Bumper Reinforcement 6400B058 419.33
Rocker Air Dam MR586282 916.75
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Thank you very much

Sorry to hear about your accident. I would suggest looking into repairs if the damage does not seem that bad, based on the parts you listed seems to be the case.
If they total the car, are you getting the market value for your car, loan if so, being taken care of?
I had the option to buy my last Evo IX back for like 2k.

6k seems like a lot to pay for a totaled car. At least without seeing the images and the exact damages. Keep in mind that in some cases you can provide a case that the car is worth more than they're saying. Sometimes they will low ball you or their formula usually doesn't work as well with specialty cars.

I've also heard people doing this too. Grabbing what they can from the car at the salvage yard and replacing w/ other parts. If you have some aftermarket bits like gauges or dress up items, insurance isn't covering that anyway so might as well take for the next car. Not sure of the ethical or legal implications here though.

buy it back, part it out, build you a even better one
engine / drive-train will net you a couple grand back and then everything else you'll probably make back quite a bit.
but from the sound of it, thats WAY overpriced for parts a new radiator support assembly is only about 500$ not 2100 lol, I could have that thing looking back brand new for about 2500

If you are not real attached to your evo, it may be best to let it be totaled. Of course, I haven't seen images or the actual estimate and that may change my opinion.
Good luck!
