ACD pump in trunk?

Anyone who has relocated the ACD unit put the pump in the trunk know if it becomes a heat issue?? I know it gets pretty hot but curious if it's within spec or if I need to relocated it outside in the gunk and muck.

While we're on the subject. Did you follow any specific parts lists or write ups?

I don't know I haven't done it yet . I'm just interested in how others have done it .. And wondering if you saw something that made you follow a specific path. Some put the whole unit in the trunk and some use a factory grommet from an X so far what I have gathered.

No real path or how to that I followed other than meeting the criteria for what I was wanting. 1) to move it away from the front for better weight distribution, 2) move the pump away from the elements, 3) mount it in a place where it would be securely mounted, 4) for bleeding purposes I wanted it low but not sure if I necessarily wanted it lower than the bleeder fitting on the tc for ease of servicing in the future.

From what I gathered during my install I found that the metals used in the trunk floor is rather flimsy and I had to reinforce the oem bracket in order for the pump and bracket not to move around so much. I chose to mount mine on the right hand side of the spare tire well in the trunk because it was the lowest point back there. I then have a ss line with ptfe inner liner routed up to the tc with a crimped on an fitting. I think if I would have sourced a hard line it would have been easier to route in the long run, but this works.

Why does keeping the pump low for bleeding? As far as I know you bleed the nipple on the TC not at the pump...

keep the nipple on the tc at the lowest point is what I meant. It makes it easier to drain when the nipple is the lowest point of the system. I beleive thats how it is with the acd system in its oem coinfiguration. The pump and all the lines are mounted higher than the bleeder.

Im not sure if it matters so much for bleeding the system as much as draining it actually though.

Did you make a new hardline or use a high pressure AN setup?

I used the oem hardline up to point where there is that first threaded oem fitting. I cut that off and put a high pressure AN fitting adapter and used a stainless steel braided ptfe lined hose up to the tc where there is a crimped on AN fitting there.

How hard was it to rebend the factory hardline without kinking it? I'm wondering if there's enough for me to put it on the drivers side, where the jack handle and all that go.

the factory hard line bends fairly easy by hand actually.
