Driving Evo From NYC to LA in my EVO ix .....

Cruise, cell phone, snow tires and since you are asking for a recommendation - Winter Sport 3Ds, GPS and, if the weather turns bad, don't hesitate to get off of the road. A warm room at a motel is much better than a scary road. Motels along your route can fill up fast if the interstate closes.
Traveling around the country I've noticed that many of the interstate interchanges near cities feature a new motel located right next to a Cracker Box restaurant. So, good food and a good place to stay, a travelers dream.
Out West it is not unusual to be stopped by the police looking for drug smugglers. So, have your papers in order and handy.

+1 to all the good advice offered so far. The one thing I would add is some kind of credible radar solution. I managed to do 6,000 miles out west a few summers ago, without a single ticket.

personally, i would think twice.. im in the army, went from Malibu/Santa barbara area to Kentucky and Ive done a round trip from san antonio to Malibu/Santa Barbara
while the above advise is good. keep in mind the potential road hazards.. debris on roads.. big azz bugs etc etc. my first trip left my evo pretty scarred. im about to make that trip again from San antonio.. evo if it comes out the shop tomorrow before i leave is staying in the garage.. taking the family car instead

Or you can rental a car and call it a day. You dont have to worry about any maintenance or AAA or cruise control. Everything comes with the car rental and you are off to go.

Good Luck with the trip man! As stated just do some maintenace on the car before you head out. Ive always wanted to take a long trip in my EVO but i think not having curise control would be rough. Take pics and Vids!

i've made the trip in my evo from phx-st louis and back without stopping. i did it once on stock motor and another on my built 2.3l
change the plugs, oil, and check the tire pressure. also carry extra oil because i did burn a little.

Last year I had some contract work in SF that had a duration of 6+ months. Instead of using a rental, I decided to drive from CHI to SF. If I can recall, it was about 2200 miles and since I wasn't in a rush, I took my time.
Since your going to LA, you'll have a chance to actually see the sights. It's amazing what you see driving all that way.
As the others have suggested, just do the basics and make sure your tires and pressure are checked; clean/check your air filter, brakes, and fluid levels.
It's a nice drive! Safe travels!!
