P0300 idle issue i need some help!

ok ive searched this and i cant find an answer.

ok i got a P0300 code and my idle is super rough it pops and you can tell its missing.

Car is an 03 with 95K miles

I just had the car tuned by tobz with a 3 inch exhaust and a boost controler. everything else is stock boost is set at 23PSI

i changed the plugs today with NGK BR7es the car idled great i had the gap set at .30 the stock gap.

the car idled awesome but under boost it would break up like crazy.

i gapped them back down to the size that tobz suggested .18 now the car idles like **** and is missing but under load its super smooth.

any one have any ideas?

which doesnt make sense to me because the smaller the gap on the plugs the less it has to work right?

I would bring it back and get your tune fixed. You shouldn't have to keep gapping your plugs to get your car to run right. When plugs wear, it's normal for the gap to become larger.

Do you think it's an issue with the tune? I'm not sure if he's willing to retune

id get new plugs gap the to .022 and take it to him.

he should stand behind his work and make it run right.

AFR guage is pretty much a must in evos

Was the vehicle running properly after the tune? How soon after the tune did you get this code?

after the tune the car was running good at idle but the 2nd day under full boost it was breaking up so i brought it back to him and he re-gapped the plugs to .18 when picking up the car the idle was a little rough and after i drove 10 miles down the road the engine light came on. then when i stopped the idle was really bad. problem is im 2 + hours from the tunning shop.

I spoke with Tobz and he said that with new plugs gapped at .30 and the idle being good means that when the plugs are at .18 and the idle is bad it means the voltage is to low. Because its a small gap the spark isn't as strong. So sounds like I need new wires. What do you guys think?

Hahaha, sounds like there's a problem and your tune shop either doesn't wanna deal with it, or doesn't know what the problem is. Low idle cause voltage is low?? Really? Did he do a battery test? I wouldn't keep throwing parts at the car like your tune shop wants you to until you're sure of the cause of problem. Take it to another shop.

I may have done a bad job describing what I was trying to say.

When the plugs are at .18 the plugs take more voltage to have a strong enough spark.

The bigger the gap the less voltage it takes to make a strong spark.

So when the gap is .18 the cars voltage isn't high enough and it causes it to misfire. He thinks new wires will fix the problem.

Good thing is he said he will install them and if it doesn't fix the problem then there is no charge.
