When I purchased mine it was missing this piece and all the inspection holes were open. I ordered all the parts to seal mine off again.

Who thinks water/road debri/rocks in their clutch setup is a good idea. Things start to get squeaky/rusted and or damaged.

I'm sure the TOB loves all the elements being slung around in there and might make it a pain to disengage from the pressure plate if you have to install another clutch down the road.

I'll effect is rust as you can clearly see; foreign particles will likely go in it. rock salt will be the beginning and death of it. Buy the part get it installed for $50-$150 and be done with it.

^exactly.

That pothole you just hit is full of road debris that can get in there.

or some off road fun sliding on some gravel or in the mudd = stuff you dont want inside your clutch system.

Op:
I also noticed your inspection hole for TOB disengagement is open also. Close that up to why your at it.

Obviously it's better to have the cover on there but if it makes you feel better when I had a honda I did not have a flywheel cover for 2 years and I had no ill side effects because of it.

Do yourself a favor and get that $9 cover plate and any other plate your are missing....

Probably just the blurred picture but it also looks like there are some teeth missing on the flywheel. Am I wrong?

Car must have sat for a while. You will need to remove the starter to put the cover back on.
