I have one of these stickers as well, mostly because I am sort of naive and an idiot.

As to whether it would help with liability, the question would probably come down to what the standard of care for towing is, and whether or not the sticker would be deemed to have informed the driver (and by extension the towing company) on the proper method for towing EVOs.

The driver would of course say that he never saw any sticker.

If the tow company lawyers were aggressive and you did not have evidence, they might intimate that you either put the sticker on after the Tow of Pain, or that you took it off before the Tow of Pain.

i believe tow trucks are required to get a vin number from you car when towing. assuming the sticker is in the way of the VIN number (but they can look around it and see the VIN) that seems like pretty good evidence and hard to miss

Got one of those stickers on my windshield after 2 weeks of ownership

Don't let stupid tow-truck drivers kill your babies!

That sticker is indeed a CYA, just in case there is a lawsuit and a friendly reminder to the driver also. Sure, right now I am aware the vehicle needs to be on a bed prior. In the heat of the moment, I would be more worried what the hell went wrong, how to fix it, and when I will be able to drive again.

Wow.. I remember a guy tried to tow my car with a regular tow truck. I told him that it MUST be towed by a flat bed because it is AWD.. He looks at me and says " I've never heard of that before. "

That sucks. The pictures may not be of much help, can't make out the license plate number or the name of the tow truck company.
