Evo 8 with evo 9 turbo help

I have a 03 evo 8 fq300. The turbo is starting to go in it. I have been advised to change my turbo and put in an evo 9 turbo instead of replacing it with an evo 8 one again.

My engine is basically stock, besides an apexi induction kit and hks intercooler piping. So if I was to change my turbo to a 9 one, would I need to upgrade anything else? Like fuel pump or injectors?

Is a remap necessary after that then?

I tried researching but could not find exactly what to do if I was changing the turbo, thanks for your info.

At the very least, I would upgrade to a 255 (dpimports/$100 w/filter kit) and tune. An exhaust (Megan TBE) would be your best bang for the buck, to wake that turbo up.

I have a hks super dragger straight through exhaust on it already. So there would be no need for injectors? I wont be going up much bhp in the map, its just to tune it.

Would you know how the car will run with the 9 turbo after I change it before I do a tune? Like will it be drivable?

It depends on what fuel your going to run. 9?oct on a stock IX Turbo, stock injectors are fine. You'll know once you start tuning, at 9X% duty on stock injectors will still be stronger then your current turbo and safe. You can always upgrade later and sqeeze more out of the tune.

I will be running 95 ron. Okay. Will I b doing any harm driving the car after fitting the turbo before the tune? As I will have to drive far to get my car tuned and there is very few places

Thanks

Yes there is an adapter kit that has to be fitted as the piping is slightly different on the 9 turbo.

If that is the case, I would run it on WG load only (18psi) to get it tuned. I would not drive it around un-tuned with a new Turbo installed.

Here is a link to the Kit. You don't necessarily have to buy it from them, I just happened to find it on their site first.

Now this may seem off topic, and I may seem like I'm highjacking, but since we're on the topic of install kits....

Does the old school FP green require a special install kit? Something about the oil drain line is longer, or something.

Thanks for link!

Another question, after I fit the turbo can the remap be generic (not on a dyno just plug in computer) or does it have to be a custom remap (on the dyno)?

Cheers
