Oil Filter Screw Stripped?(kind of urgent)

Changing my oil just now I noticed that when I try to put on the new filter (Mobil1 m110 which I've been using for the past year) it wouldn't go completely on. So I inspected the screw where the oil filter is screwed into and I noticed the tip of it has lost its threads. Not sure if it has always been like this. Just the tip and not the rest so that's why I'm guessing I can put on the oil filter but not tighten it all the way? Any suggestions on what I can do? I need my car very urgently but have no clue what I can do since the oil filter does not completely screw in. It is very close but tightening all the way it won't budge. Thanks for any help!

Next time just use your hand and dont tighten it too much! You installed the oil filter incorrectly and you kept on screwing it in.

Thanks for your help! That's what I usually do (hand tighten) but for some reason this time it was being a pain. Thanks again

Sounds like the threads are galled

Instead of replacing the housing like the link suggest, I wonder if just chasing the threads would work. You noted its only at the tip!

Yeh I was thinking of doing that but not having access to a lift is really killing my mood lol. I'll see what I can do!
