Yeah, I was expecting the engine to be standing up when I read the title.

Oh yeah... forgot to mention that this has been done MANY MANY MANY times...

^ I don't think that the RMR Evo's engine was mounted differently than stock though.

You're right. RMR did something with the drivetrain that only allowed power to the rear wheels. I hear it was relatively inexpensive to do.

^ They also changed some of the front suspension components to let the wheels turn more, especially since they weren't driving wheels in that car.

You took the words out of my mouth, as soon as I saw the topic I was gonna post in longitude. Anyways what kind of transmission or bellhousing can you use to mount it in longitude ?

Regardless of how RMR did it. converting the evo to Longitudinally RWD would be pretty easy. damn near any transmission can be used. Just fab up an adapter plate, and have a clutch disk made to fit the input shaft of the transmission. FR manual boxes are small.

Thats pretty sweet idea. How much a setup would cost someone for everything?
Ofcourse with engine and tranny too using the R32 motor from a skyline.

If you know how to do fabrication, it wouldn't cost much at all. If you are paying someone to do the fabrication... you might as well just buy a 240SX and do the silvia conversion.

But I think a large portion of the community probably doesn't know how to do fabrication, at least not on par with the skill level to do everything right with no worries on something with this level of importance. We're talking about re-mounting the engine, not something trivial like cutting the USDM rear crash beam to fit the JDM bumper.
