hydraulic tob info needed!
hey guys question. i bought a quartermaster twin disc w/ hydraulic tob from another member on here. my question is first he said the tob was for a 6 spd. i have a 5 spd but doesnt the 6 just have an adapter?? thats the only difference?? also when i look at the tob new it shows all these gold rings that come with them. i didnt receive any of these and wondering what there for and if needed thanks.

The rings are shims. The shims are to step the TOB so that you achieve proper contact. In Evos with a new flywheel and new unworn discs and an OEM crank or OEM length crank they wont need the shims, but if any thing is off then the shims will be needed. I think one of the Eagle or Manley cranks needs shimming because the face is a few hundreths of an inch shorter than OEM, so the shims are needed to make up for that loss in material.
The instructions that come with the clutch explain that, if you didnt get the instructions, good luck Theres a good deal going on to install the QM properly, measuring bellhousing to flywheel (or crank face) distance I forget what the exact measurment is, shimming, etc. Its a bit simpler than Im making it seem but still a huge PITA compared to just throwing an Exedy in and being done with it. I got rid of my QM 8 leg because I didnt feel like screwing with the install, installing a pedal stop, etc.
