Hey guys just a question a for tune. i got my intake downpipe high flow cat and a cat back exhaust. Do i need to get the car tuned my car right away or be driving like that for a bit?

Dont boost it without a tune. In other words get tuned when you can but just don't beat on it in the meantime.

little rule of thumb for these cars...

Anytime you change a part that effects air flow or fueling, get it tuned

Slapping on a boost controller before the tune wouldn't hurt. Intake-Turboback-Boost controller-Walbro were my first round of mods before i got tuned. Night and day difference after you get tuned. BTW i see your in Chicago, who did you have in mind for a tuner?

Look, tunes can get pretty expensive if your getting a tune for every single mod you add or change up, so I suggest you save up enough money to upgrade the following, which in hand you will see greater gains, spend on 1 tune and be more satisfied all the way around. That is if you can resist staying out of WOT & have patience lol.

You got the Exhaust, so disregard that lol
Boost Controller: Dont toy with it without a proper tune of course
Boost Guage: Watch your boost level at WOT
Wideband: Essential for you and the Tuner.
Fuel Pump: if your goals are over 300
Intake: Open filter preferably
Bov or DV (Evo9): Particularly one that can hold boost and recirculates unless on speed density.
Intercooler w/ piping: some gains but not drastic with stock turbo displacement.
Ported Manifold: a plus but not required
Upgraded 02 housing: Megan or Invidia works
Injectors: stock one's max out @ roughly 350hp

These are basic mods you can do yourself, fairly affordable per mod, and help save you money on numerous tune's/adjustments...any goals over 400whp then that's a different ballpark on mods bahahaha. Hope it helps

is it a drop in filter or an actual intake? if it's an open filter, you may want to get it tuned. i have a turbo back, lower intercooler pipe, drop in, and don't need a tune. i've been up to 7k, and to the track, as well as daily driving it for 4 years untuned. it may wake it up, but it won't blow up your car if you don't tune the bolt ons you got.

You probably don't NEED a tune, but a tune in its own rights is the best upgrade for an Evo in my opinion. The hard parts you add will just make that tune upgrade a better investment (to an extent, of course).

Also, you may be interested in some cams too down the road... If you're impatient like me, do it in steps. I did cams, intake, exhaust, MBC, tune. Then gathered more parts: intercooler, piping, fuel pump, injectors, tune. Helps keep your need for speed urge satisfied more often

Not to bash on your post but the point of aggregating mods is to make more power rt?, So why install an exhaust which helps open your turbo airways, + LICP which usually provide a quicker spool time and change your filtration setup & not get it TUNED ? You realize you would have more HP/TQ & more than likely a more reliable car since most Evo's tend to idle irregular with minor adjustments neways.

No need to mislead this guy into thinking he doesn't need a Tune just because you didn't bud..in the end however it really depends on the owner. I think its always Better safe than sorry .
