Standing mile anyone?

I did some searching but did not find much regarding standing mile racing on here except for Mike Reichen's evo 2 and the AMS drag evo. I plan on attending and racing in a standing mile event here in Michigan in June.

Has anyone here done it? If so, how fast have you gone? How much power and what kind of aero mods did you have if any? Any safety equipment?

I'll be using a Y rated BFG KDW tire, stock gearing, with 750-800HP.

I've ran the TX mile a few times but only once in my Evo. The only safety equipment I needed was a fire extinguisher mounted within easy reach.
Mods: S2s, 9 turbo and e85 + bpu
No Aero work.

With your 6266 providing it doesn't grenade at WOT from the load and a wall of air hitting you car you'll hit in excess of 190 for sure past 8000 RPMS. Take your wing off, otherwise it might rip off not to mention much faster acceleration.

The 6266 has seen great amounts of load at WOT in 5th last year so it should do fine for the mile this year.

The car already has no wing. The front bumper is completely blocked off except for the FMIC, with removable plates for the radiator and turbo. I will probably leave the turbo covered for this one to keep it safe. I also have mirror block offs I can throw on but I don't think that's totally necessary. The motor is good for 10K RPM, so we shall see what it does.

Fire extinguisher is a great idea, i'll be grabbing one I should have one anyways for drag racing.

You may hit 200, years ago some nut with an AMS 35R and a stock 2.0 ran 199 at 9000 RPM's so that is your RPM on a 03-04 EVO, get to 9500 and you'll hit over 200MPH.

Ratios here...

5th Gear
RPM MPH
2500 58.096
2600 60.420
2700 62.744
2800 65.068
2900 67.391
3000 69.715
3100 72.039
3200 74.363
3300 76.687
3400 79.011
3500 81.334
3600 83.658
3700 85.982
3800 88.306
3900 90.630
4000 92.954
4100 95.278
4200 97.601
4300 99.925
4400 102.249
4500 104.573
4600 106.897
4700 109.221
4800 111.544
4900 113.868
5000 116.192
5100 118.516
5200 120.840
5300 123.164
5400 125.487
5500 127.811
5600 130.135
5700 132.459
5800 134.783
5900 137.107
6000 139.431
6100 141.754
6200 144.078
6300 146.402
6400 148.726
6500 151.050
6600 153.374
6700 155.697
6800 158.021
6900 160.345
7000 162.669
7100 164.993
7200 167.317
7300 169.640
7400 171.964
7500 174.288
7600 176.612
7700 178.936
7800 181.260

So with that said you will hit 200MPH at exactly 8606.421714664019RPM's

You will hit 180 easy peasy and fast, that 200MPH may be an issue.

at 10,000 RPMS you'll hit 232.3846153846154MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let us know!

190-200MPH is my goal. I used a gear ratio calculator just now to see where the car will be at.

255/40/17 tire (25.03 diameter)
Stock 4.529 final drive
Stock .720 5th gear ratio

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it seems like a decent calculator.

I took the ratio information from TRE: http://www.teamrip.com/gear_ratio_options.html

That's what I do, I beat people with knowledge. The amount of load on your motor at 10,000 RPMS at 230+ MPH would be staggering. Be careful.

Wow that is crazy. I would be terrified to do that on a stock 2.0 Yeah 180MPH should not be an issue. We will see if the car is powerful enough to get up to 200MPH through the wall of air.

There is no way I am going to take it to 10k, i'll be lucky to hit 9. I will be careful, and only plan on making 1 run then calling it quits.

Haha, we will see. There is a .7 mile shut down after the mile run.

You could come and bring one of your Evo's! It is in Battle Creek at W.K. Kellogg Airport.

I suggest running a taller tire.
If you have time make a front air dam to keep the air from going under your car. I also suggest side skirt extensions. I've had my car up to 190 and it is firmly planted.
Tape off all the gaps in the hood.
Use your mirror block off plates.
Smooth out the transition from the windshield and a-pillar.

I'm sure there is more but I'm at work.

Ps. You should bring your car to the Oct. Mile and bring Shanks.

Thank you for the suggestions sir. I will take all into consideration.

I do have 26" tires, but they are a bias ply "cheater slick". I feel more comfortable with a street tire as those are really soft and not as stable. Not sure if I will be able to upgrade the street tires in time or not.

I'll look into the oct. mile. yes shanks and I are friends.
