Reliability of long drives with built motor
Hi guys,
Here is the deal. I'm military and have to ship my car to my new overseas destination. I'm currently in northern Utah and have to take my car to the Southern California to the military shippers.
I'm currently putting in my MAP shortblock with a new Competion stage 4 clutch. I don't have to be down there till mid April to drop it off. I should have it up and running by the first week of march to do break in. I will probably only have about 1200 miles on it before I make the 12-14 hour drive to SoCal. The car will have all new fluids and belts ect.
I'm just curious if the built engine will be reliable enough for sustained rpm for a long a distance. Mods are in signature minus the new engine and clutch.
Anybody ever done a long trip on a built motor. Like 700 plus miles.

Thank you
That's what Nate from MAP said. Thank you so much for responding though. Its nice to have to vendors say things should be fine. The drive will suck though. I just need to make it there, if something happens and I don't make it there and miss my port call ill be in deep shiz....
You know how it goes, you guys deal with lots of military

chances are it will burn next to no oil though if the wristpin is not moved on the piston. if its a 2.0L or 2.4L it wont burn no oil probably. it seems on 2.3's and 2.4LR etc they will burn oil more then standard pistons because the bottom ring gets interfered once the wristpin is shifted up. now a days though the new design pistons do a good job at oil control no matter what.

I did Denver to Phoenix 900+ miles maybe 200 miles after a fresh build all on
E85. Then 6 months later Phoenix to Salt Lake City. 2 years later on the same engine and the car still rips.
I just checked the oil level every stop never had to add any.
