Buying EVO IX SE. HELP!!

Hey guys,

Apparently I missed out on an extremely low mileage RS so im on the hunt for an evo again.

Here's what I found:
2006 EVO IX SE

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/thx7mthebc75v1g/vVgo0VxNBX

Exterior is close to perfect besides minor scratch on the front lip.

1 Owner. 25000 miles. According to the seller, all services were done by himself @ every 3k miles using Amsoil products. Tires needs replacement. Completely stock.

The question is, is it worth $24.5k? HELP. I know theres always clean evos popping up now and then, but Im in need of a car. If this is not the one for me, Im probably gonna get a new FRS. but i really want an evo.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Some concerns....

- What is that on the spark plug cover? Oil?

- Head looks practically new, has the head ever been off?

The heads on my car look similar, but that is a good point.

What about exterior pictures of the car?

VIN?

Get it inspected by a shop you trust

I believe its oil on the cover and If I remember correctly he told me that he's never taken anything off the car.

I dont have the exterior pics but it is pretty much perfect aside from one small scratch on the front lip and another small ding on the rear passenger door handle.

As I am not from around here, I dont know of any good shops that I can trust, but i'll be taking it to a shop called Kaizen Tuning as they offer pre-purchase inspection. Gonna call them tomorrow to get a quote.

Anything else that I should note guys?

you should note that oil doesn't just appear on the valve cover like that. if he's spilling that much oil on the valve cover (i'm going to assume it's still) when he's changing the oil, i'm wondering how much he ****ed up doing other easy routine maintenance

until he sends you exterior pictures you shouldn't bother with the car

why is the rear subframe silver? is that some special coating? it looks more like it was replaced to me

yea look at the rear subframe, looks like some paint too or a bad undercoating :/ sway bar connector is seriously new looking, rust on everything else but that and no pitting or anything or even oxidation? mmmm Idk...
get a inspection, check it out drive it. look for the obvious, whine, hows it shift, yadda yadda.

I don't have pics, but I know the car you're talking about because I saw it when I was helping my brother look for a IX. He's had that car for sale on and off on ebay for months now. I've also seen it on CL. He wanted $24.750 when I asked him about it. He said he wouldn't even take $24.5 for it even though he was offered $24.5 multiple times... I think he was lying. I told him if he was offered only $250 under his asking price, I'd take it and run!

Car looked decent in the pics when I saw it. That's all I'll say about it.

There is a white IX SSL in the same CL ads with a little more miles for $250 more. Car has thousands in tasteful mods and BPU. Personally I'd be all over that one instead. You may want to look into it and see if it's still available
