Turbo Decision

Alright so I am looking on some opinions to help me make my decision for a turbo for my Evo 8, supporting mods, stock motor.

I would like to order from Map performance because I am looking to buy a stock frame turbo and like their customer service, i dont want an FP because i think they are too much money and everyone has one.

Choices:
MAP EF2
MAP EF3
ATP GTX3076R Kit

I am kind of leaning toward the EF3 with the anti-surge option, turbine porting option, compressor housing porting option and the evo 8 install kit. $2178.00

Ill be the first to say it. Need to know what kind of power you are wanting to make and what your budget is. List your mods because you may be missing some that you need. Also check out the dyno section and look at those different turbos and see what they will do and what mods people are using to get their numbers

For the extra 300 I would rather have a ball bearing turbo vs a journal bearing. 300 is not a lot of money difference and everyone has one because they work. I would rather have a dbb green red or black than any other stock frame turbo.

Ok sorry about that. Budget for turbo: ~$2000. Not much over $2000. Looking to make around 450, not sure if I wanna break 500 on a stock block.

Mods:
255 pump
Ported intake manifold
Tubular mynes exhaust manifold
evo 9 bov
3.5 Intercooler
Full intercooler piping
Intake
Grimmspeed EBC
ACT Street clutch

Mods I need to get before turbo install:
Ported 65mm Throttle Body
Injectos (800-1200cc not sure yet)
Kelford 272 cams
Head studs

The difference in price is actually $615 (or $715 if the OP selected a standard compressor cover which would be my suggestion) plus shipping costs. The additional costs he is referring to is likely an installation kit, porting, etc. that would be additional from FP also.

OP: Thank you for the kind words, we look forward to working with you! Don't hesitate to give a call up and speak with my resident Evo expert Nate if you would like us to weigh in on this selection

That is a more significant difference so I could see someone not spending the extra due to budget. I am not stating there is any issue with the MAP turbos either, just my preference for a ball bearing turbo. Are you going to offer a DBB chra for the EF line of turbos?

For 450whp the EF1-2 should do that no problem and give a better powerband than an EF3. If you want more power later though a EF3 would be better than buying two turbos.

It something we would like to look into, but given our low failure rate with the journal bearing variations it is not currently a top priority.

On E85 the EF2 will do 450whp, pump gas you're going to need an EF3

The BBK-B from CBRD is also a good option although it costs a little over what you wanted to spend.
