As far as install heres how I did it.
1. Remove battery and battery tray
2. Pull cotter pin off top of linkage and remove linkage from pin
3. Pop rubber bushing out of center of linkage and insert metal bushing from the bottom.
4. Pop clip on new metal bushing from the top.
5. sit bushing back on pin and reinstall cotter pin.
The reverse bushing is a little harder to get to but it installs the same way.

I didn't really have a problem with the stock Evo shift linkage or shifter either. However, I did install a KartBoy shifter and used LancerShop's machined brass bushings. It was a big improvement over the stock shifter. The throw feels much shorter and more positive. This is the best mod I've done to my Evo.

Is the Kartboy as nice for the EVO? I know Tom from KB is on here and I think he has an EVO, right?

I just hate the way mine shifts! clunk, grid, notch,, not all the time , but a good 30% of it! I think Im going to order my set, both of them.
So for those of you that got them, did you guys have the same notchy, clunky, grindy feel going into gears?
I would hate to see how my syncros look.
This is after 10K miles too. I have done the clutch line==nothing.
I guess I will give this a shot.
Keep the replies coming!!!

I've done this mod on my car and it's a nice difference... My guess is that it's at a cost standpoint why they use rubber bushings... unless maybe, maybe the metal would wear the link-wire... but i'd doubt it... a good short shifter with metal bushings in the car and in the bay is one of the most satisfying mods for the money you can buy...

The 8-piece kits go under the plastic shift tower that hold the shift lever in place. The 2-pc kit replaces the linkage bushings in the engine bay.
