I'm sort of actually in your shoes and well. My situation is buy and evo 8/9 or a new wrx. I'm going through with the new wrx and when I have more money that I'll have to dump on an evo ill do it but right now I'm gonna need something I know will last me a while with no problems. Lemme know what you think
Seriously though WRX's are hit an miss on being problematic. Don't put one bolt on it unless your dealership is mod friendly.

'I have this rare diamond that just needs a good polishing that I'm considering trading in for that stick over there...'
'Which stick?'
'Eh... doesn't matter, either of the 6 billion will work.'
'Well, this stick is new, so it's going to cost more than that rare, unpolished diamond you have.'
'Fine by me!'
haha j/k. If my opinion isn't obvious enough, get a new clutch and replace the fluids. You'll run into the same problem with any manual, awd car with enough miles on it.
Oh, and good luck changing the spark plugs on your new wrx
