Question Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR import?

Did anyone manage to import the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR FQ-400, or FQ-360 (The European Models) into Canada, Especially BC? Did they make an FQ-400 in the evolution 9?

They can't be registered here because they aren't 15 years old yet. And no there's no FQ-400 IX.

^ This. The FQ-400 was only made out of an Evo VIII (sitting above the FQ-320), while the FQ-360 was the top variant of the Evo IX.

I believe there was an Evo VIII FQ-340 as well.

I thought there was one too, I just wasn't sure so I didn't say anything, particularly because when I thought about it, I couldn't recall seeing a Top Gear test of one... not that a Top Gear appearance is the only indication of whether the model exists or not.

You can't. lol.

There wouldn't be anything better about it that a few mods couldn't fix anyways, other than the exclusivity of having a real FQ-360.

Yep as stated before, must be older than 15 years. No if's, and's, or but's about it. Ive dealt plenty with importing for the last 6 years. I've previously owned a 1990 Skyline GT-R, 1990 Fairlady and a 1995 180SX before my IX.

I +1 the idea of just bringing an MR up from the USA and bolting on the mods to bring it up to FQ status. Cheaper in the long run.

To give you an idea. A 9MR with an exhaust, a cone filter, fuel pump, and a tune will make 300 WHP.

The FQ's are hotted up with HKS parts, and a tune from RalliArt. It wouldn't be very difficult to replicate the performance for less money. It becomes VERY difficult to replicate the look though (wheels and bezel, and the other special bits are rare as HELL).

But as was mentioned... Canada has a 15 year rule. Even then, I'd consider it suspect at best to go grey market.

I think even the FQ wheels (at least the ones that were on the FQ-400) are stock sized, so it's not that big of a difference. And even if they are super lightweight, I'd imagine they're not really significantly better than the BBSs or anything.

import it as a 'show/display' car. you won't be able to drive it much though but I'm sure you could finagle things a bit. Maybe you could get the seller to stip it into pieces and you can say it's a kit car.
