I searched but couldn't really find an answer.

A line to my P/S cooler ruptured and is leaking a good amount. Can I bypass the cooler safely? How would you recommend I go about doing this? I would really like to keep my p/s intact.

I don't think there is a power steering cooler. There is an oil cooler though.

I should have mentioned it's an 03 evo 8.

It's a line that runs in front of the radiator and just loops around back into the engine bay.

Post a picture. Could it be the AC condensor line?

I was hoping it was ac since I'm pulling it all soon. The line that is cut runs from the bottom of the p/s reservoir to the "cooler" in front of the radiator which just loops back around into the engine bay and back to the steering rack. There's still another large hose that runs from the p/s pump to the rack as well. Will post a pic of the cooler I'm talking about soon.

I think I may try to cut the ruptured section out and then connect the two ends with a hose of some sort and secure with some clamps. I'm going to try to make a brad at the ends of the aluminum lines to better secure the hose. Any thoughts? Thanks!

It's not much but yes there is a power steering cooler.

I would still run a cooler. I bought an auto trans cooler and used as it was more convenient than running those hard hoses with a 4" intercooler.

Hmm no thoughts? I think I'm going to buy a piece of aluminum piping that is just big enough to slide over each end of the break and then seal it with jb weld and hope that holds together. The rupture turned into a small explosion of p/s fluid when I tried to move the car so it's immobilized at the moment.

Power steering lines run hundreds and sometimes upwards of 1200 psi. Do not use any kind of quick fix. Just buy a new cooler line and fix it that way. If you don't want to spend any money on it, just remove the power steering.

the power steering cooler is routed on the return side, so its a low pressure. it routes from the reservoir to under the passenger headlamp area and under the front frame rail. you can bypass it and should be ok, but I would try to fix your situation asap.

That would be your powersteering cooler line. I think I still have mine I can send you for a fair price. Either way, follow the lines, one goes from the reservoir the other is the return to the rack. bypass the cooler lines and go from the reservoir to the rack and you should be good.
