I removed a breather, cleaned out my injen air filter, and started doing vacuum driving and went from 19 mpg to 21 mpg. Then I tuned my Low Octane Maps and now get about 23mpg with some enthusiastic driving (city).

Making changes to the low octane maps shouldn't affect how the car runs.

even if it not meant for great gas mileage you should atleast 20 without boost on a bone stock car.

Just because it's not supposed to be good on fuel consumption doesn't mean it's wrong to want to improve it.

Mods actually can get you better gas mileage since your car breathes better especially larger turbos since it takes longer to spool up

I usually get around 200 miles to the tank give or take but I'm the opposite as I drive 75% in the city and only 25% highway

I would get 240 miles to a tank and what's when I was tuned on pump and 427whp. Mostly commuting but definitely some fun mixed in.

my other evo's would only do 220-280 (if I'm driving under boost).

To reach 300 miles per tank, for me it's all about how fast I'm driving on the highway. ~65mph in the right lane and I can get 25-27 mpg on a tank of gas. Dodging in and out of traffic at ~80mph and I'll end up getting 19-22 mpg on the tank. That's with a 80% hwy 20% city.
