oil pressure wiring
#16
This is what I look at all day. I'm quite familiar with how oil pressure gauges work... luckily for the people/stuff in the back.
It's problematic though that someone that is trying to learn, and actually searching to the extent they felt was necessary, just gets made to look like a jackass because that individual chose to ask a question.
Sometimes the carguys are their own worst enemy.

I did however assume that this user knew how the OPG would work, and when they stated that the gauge was working like an RPM gauge, I surmised that he meant that literally, not that it was actually working as normal and rising/falling with RPM, but that it was indicating in a linear fashion with the tach, like a tach.

You are bragging about flying a King Air?
I'm normally a fan of the phrase 'there is no such thing as a stupid question', but this is the problem with the new era of car guys-someone that does not know that oil pressure rises/falls with engine RPM has no business modifying a turbocharged car...period. Gotta learn to crawl before you learn to walk.

How would you suggest someone learns to crawl before they can walk if whenever they come in to ask a question they get flamed?
Believe me when I say that I understand your point. Without getting into a debate about it, we all see the Evos that come through, and get ripped up, and trashed by owners that either have no idea what they're doing, or can't afford to keep the cars maintained properly. But what's the best solution? Is it to simply tell someone that a modification that they're going to do anyway, or already have done, was something that they shouldn't have done? Or is it perhaps to help impart our knowledge onto them so that something gets done correctly?
The way I see it... one method keeps a car community alive, and one method kills it off. Which is why I'm not really sure why the internet muscles, and flame wars became so common?
How does telling someone they're an idiot, and NOT telling them how NOT to be an idiot actually help?
Anyway... I'm rambling. You see my point... have one on me, and lets move on.

Based on this search:

You appear to be one of the lucky ones with this gauge.
To wit. I have a prosport boost gauge that I like... kind of unfortunate to see so many errors with their OPG.

This has turned into a pissing match. ProPilot, thanks for some decency... Someone could have just said "OP or oil pressure is RPM dependent". DONE, questioned answered. And yes, your oil pressure gauge is reading fine.. Just dont allow it to get to low or high.
