How could they not drill it out? Drill it out and retap it or use some form of extractor. It has worked on other broken turbo/manifold bolts.

GL!

I'm wondering if the machine shop is scared to drill too far and damage the head. They probably don't want that liability on their hands. I would try a reverse bit and see if you can get it out.

If they didn't get it out, get your damn money back... or at least get a reduced rate on the labor?

For $95 I would've sat there yutzing with it with no goal.

Wait... which machine shop did you take it to?

If a machine shop couldn't get it out in an hour then they're not really a machine shop.

Is it completely flush? If not take a nut and a washer, thread a bit of the nut onto the stud. Weld it onto the stud and use heat around where the stud enters the head. I wish you were closer, I would definitely help get that sucker out for you.

Happened to me when I was installing my o2 housing. All we did was cut off the rest of the broken stud and then drill it out on the drill press while using some cutting oil. Then I just got a copper nut and bolt instead of pressing in a new stud.

Get a torch and double nut it if possible or just drill it out

Go back to the machine shop and show them how it's done. Maybe do a write up for them. lol
