To those of you who have powdercoated your calipers

The clear coat on my calipers have been peeling and they're slowly turning brown so I've been looking locally to find someone to powdercoated them. Now every shop I have talked to can not have the brembo put back on nor can they put a brembo decal before the clear coat. Now I noticed that they sell high temp brembo stickers so I was wondering if anyone has ever used those or did you guys just find a place to paint the brembo logo back onto the calipers?

Place the brembo logo on after powdercoat? That doesn't seem right

Are you guys using rattle can clean? Or having it professionally cleared by a shop?

My Calipers I got from Justin at Detective coatings are coated, then a high temp decal over the clear and thats it. It works just fine this way. Of course, it cant hurt to decal then clear either. Just preference of shop I think, really.

My first set of calipers I did myself with actual base/clear. No rattle can crap. I sprayed the base, midcoat, then the decal, and then the clear over the top. Worked out that way too.

It kind of defeats the purpose of clear coat if the clear isn't over the decal. I used hitemp spray paint on my calipers with can clear coat/ eBay labels and they're fine over a year later. If you want step-by step send me a pm

The first time I did mine I used rattle can caliper paint and the came out great. That was 4 years ago, but the paint is starting to crack now. So it's time to powder coat

I guess I'll just try the high temp decals with no clear. I really don't want to rattle can clear after having them powdercoated and cleared. If anything I can always pull the decal off and replace it.

I plan on rebuilding them. It's pretty cheap, you can get the seals and dust boots from stm for like $50 and its pretty straight forward to replace.

If the labels aren't cleared over, you'll be lucky if they last two months

I guess I'll have to find some high temp clear coat and just clear coat the decal over the powdercoat/clear coat combo.

You will be fine with the hi temp decal. Just make sure it's clean before you put it on. Or have the powder shop apply it for you
