replacing the spare tire with something else

Hey, couldn't find this for the evo 8/9's but I'm running 18" rims, so the 17" spare is useless for me. I use my trunk for groceries (lol), etc. so I need a sturdy replacement that can handle sacks of potatoes, yet not slide around while driving. Anyone have ideas or have already done this?

Here's what I did find:

What size tire? If you have a similar rolling diameter as the oem setup then even if you are on 18s then it shouldn't mater and the spare should work. Its not so much about whether your on 17s or 18s, but rather if the roling diameter of the tire you are running now is similar to the oem setup.

I have 255/35/18 on my 9.5's. A little stretch to it. Contact patch will also be crap with the spare. I already had to rebuild my Tcase, so I'm not about to risk it by using some T125/70/17 spare.

A sturdy cardboard box folded will work well.
