How much exhaust comes out of external wastegate?
Was talking with a buddy at work about exhaust restriction and quieting down a car with a external wastegate.....
My question is when running a 44mm external wastegate that dumps to atmosphere, how much exhaust is coming out of that tube and how much is actually flowing through the entire exhaust system? Under full throttle conditions obviously. Is adding resonators to exhaust where an external wg is there, really creating any backpressure thats hurting power?
I can see if you have a recirc dump, how it could affect it because all the exhaust is running out the back

How much exhaust is diverted through the wastegate depends entirely on how much boost you plan to run. Low boost = more wastegate gases. High boost = less gases. The more boost you run, the less has to bypass the turbine wheel to maintain boost. Hope this helps a little.
