my EVO IX acting up
i guess my plan to swap turbo is will have to be on hold for now..
first thing first i noticed i have idle problem and would stall when coming to red lights or stop signs and worse with AC on, its been about a week i have to live with the idle problem.
and today this morning its giving me p0340 code which translate to camshaft position sensor, bought a sensor and cleared the code but came back right away and next thing i did swapped the exhaust/intake camshaft sensor and still the same code and the idle still rough and struggling.
the evo will fire up no problem but with idle problem and p0340 engine code. do i have 2 issues or the idle problem caused the p0340?
any hint/possible solution is very welcome and i appreciate it..thank you in advance

Seeing you have a code reader, does your code reader also show live data? You could watch the rpm and Look for major fluctuations at idle/cruise/free revving. Let's say it glitches to zero intermittently maybe? Check your wires for open breaks/loose connectors(pins backed out of connector)/burns.

That motor sounds pretty bad, not sure if it is a mechanical issue or a bad sensor. It almost sounds like the timing has jumped, and the cam sensor if faulting because it is out of phase?
For your sake I hope I am wrong and its just something stupid. I would yank the timing cover off it and check the marks.

started out with bad idle a week ago, yesterday triggered p0340 code, camshaft position sensor replaced, ground and wires as far as inspection looks good, i think i am looking at crankshaft position sensor thats bad or like you said timing jumped..and yes engine sounds bad at this moment.
