Are you referring to stock framed turbos?

From smallest to largest-

HTA71
FP Green
FP Red
FP Black

Drag racing would favor the FP Black, as would maximum power. It is an HTA3582 compressor stuffed in an OEM sized shroud.

Track racing favors a quick spooling turbo like the Green. You can make more power than you need for track racing on a Green, and spool EXTREMELY quickly as well.

This topic has been brought up a zillion times, so next time do a lil research first.

Drag racing = Black makes the most power and that's what matters in drag racing.
Street = Green best spool and fastest transient response for over 500WHP
Track = Dependent on class but Green will be the best all around with the 71HTA being the quicker to spool but not making as much power.

Street/Strip/Drag - Red It's good all around plenty of power faster response than the black.

Really size the turbo for how much power you want to make. Because if you want to make 550WHP then neither the 71HTA or Green is the right turbo for you. You'd need a Red or Black to make that happen. If you want 400WHP the 71HTA is the logical choice as it'll have the fastest response while hitting your power goal.

oh okay thought the black was the most powerful one was not sure. Can you convert the stock 9 turbo into a fp black or is that a complete different turbo?

I sent in a 9 turbo to fp. Turn around was very quick and service was excellent. I opted for the hta 71 because of the price. I regret not getting a red or black right off the bat however the spool on the hta71 is amazing. Spools like stock only makes a little more power throughout the power-band.

I have an FP White (HTA 71). Very responsive turbo vs an FP Black. However, FP Black is capable of very high HP and TQ, while with a bit of a "lag" compared to the FP White.
