SD is Speed Density. It removes the Maf sensor which is a restriction for your future set up.

FF is forward facing turbo. This has the intake of the turbo facing forward. This will get you the coolest air and will require SD and a 1/2 (mini) radiator. I don't recommend the FF or the 1/2 radiator for a DD/commuter. You'll have to lose A/C with a FF too. However, it looks bad *$$!!!

Ah, wasn't following the abbreviations

Yea I agree the FF is looks awesome but I'm kinda big guy, and no A/C in South Carolina summers would be rough

I'll need to do a little more research on the SD and what all I'd need

I haven't driven one, yet that's the turbo I want. But there's no way it isn't laggy.

Will the Kinugawa make more then 200 over what you are making (which is the OP's goal)?

I'm dailying a forward facing setup. This is the second time I've done it. The first time I had no issues with AC. This time around I've had a heat issue that was unrelated to the AC setup but affected it.

Got the bugs worked out now. Ice Cold AC except for when the car is stationary (Still trying to figure that out).

I would much rather make 600 on a turbo that's in the middle of its efficiency then make that power on upper reaches of its compressor map. Lag is overrated. Maybe I'm biased because I have a 2.4.

Its not that u step on the gas and wait 10 sec for the turbo to spool! Lol.... If u want instant spool get the hks 7460... It will spool every stoplight with normal driving! How do i know? I used to own one... Then i had the fp white, green, red then black.... And i cant say the black is very laggy..... and mine was a JB...

More than likely yea, mine is at pump not e85 this turbo is almost the same size as the fp black just different blade type, the intake has 5 blades, i think fp has around 6-7 blades

If he does e85 it will make a big difference

Are you running an air filter and a stock AC condenser or a small condenser? I saw 4g63 girl running a civic A/C condenser with custom plumbing. I don't see the point of running a FF with the stock A/C condenser blocking the inlet.

I don't recommend the FF for DD/Commuting due to the 1/2 size radiator and lack of A/C if you don't do a custom A/C set up. 1/2 size radiators are fine for weekend warriors, but in hot climates in stop and go traffic, especially with the A/C on I've been to South Carolina and it's hot and humid in the summer. Maybe in the morning or evening would fine to drive this set up.

If I was in Central CA or in the North West I'd DD this set up.

Back to the OP's original questions. IMHO, I'd go with a turbo that was in the sweet spot of 600 HP, like SmurfZilla said. I'd keep a full size radiator and keep A/C on SD.

A little OT, but on my track car versus DD, I'm going with an aftermarket IM, TB, no A/C and possibly no PS (depends on the discipline and weight reduction). I don't recommend that for most for DD. My DD will keep the stock (ported) IM, TB, A/C, PS and radio/electronics, etc. The track car may see a stand alone ECU and the DD will keep the OEM ECU.

Keep studying and when you finally do decide what your set up will be, post up!
