I am also not satisfied with the lighting, during the night it is almost impossible to read the numbers. Looking forward to replacing for a defi when the $$$ is available.
That is normal. Stock my boost spiked to ~19.5 psi or so, but after I added my turbo back and intake it increased to ~21.5 psi max. Of course either way boost drops to 16-17 as rpms go up.

I have used Autometer in many cars and never had a problem. In my last car I had the Cobalt series (A/F, OP, H2O Temp.) in an a-pillar pod and they were great!

I have had the AutoMeter Phantom Boost gauge in my car for well over a year now. It was the first thing I installed when I bought my car. It's good for a general reading, BUT THAT'S IT!

I have run several times on the dyno and used their calibrated gauge and compared it to mine. The AutoMeter has varied +/- 2psi under full load.

I now rely on the digital display of the HKS EVC V which has been extermely accurate and comparable to the calibrated gauge at the dyno facility.

That's my $0.02.

Lot of people seem to not like the Autometer Gauges. Why? I know some people will say they are crap...but please...I'm looking for reasons why they are...not just cuz they are.

If you had some in your car and replaced them with something else, please say why and what you replaced them with.

Thanks
Whoever said Autometer gauges are crap is an idiot

If you happen to see any 6 sec. drag cars, take the time to notice what gauges they are using. 99% of the time its autometer, because its extremely reliable and we'll trusted, and the best bang for the buck gauge. Just cause its not made in japan, doesnt mean its no good. Id rather spend $60 for a gauge thats just as good if not better than an apexi, or greddy.

Had same problem with 1 of my boost guages in my old car. Thought it was screwed up, but I saw a couple other guages like that so i didnt worry. I know for a fact once the car was on it read accurately.

I know I have not spoken highly of Autometer gauges in the past but, having recieved some ultra lites for free I have to say they are pretty decent. Their biggest hadicap is their looks. Functionally they are just as good as any other brand.
