900hp from a evo is to much not for th engine itself just as a daliy driver, esp running such high comp pistons, no the car isn't going to blow up every 1000 miles but you will need to look after it with a eye for detail and it will just lag on the street, many are right in saying a stroker and a gt35r evo are the sweet spot for plenty of power and still streetable.

that 500hp one you mentioned seems to be perfect for you, and in my opinion 500hp in a AWD car makes for fun, not just cause its ALWAYS useable but becuase there is more to the whole evo experience than quater mile times and highway pulls and with 900hp and a 6766 you wont be able to experience a mountain pass with fun or long drives with your wife.

Also 2150cc injectors and 290 degree cams will make idle a interesting experience as well as a "built " drivetrain

Why not just look for a stock Evo and start from scratch? Just my opinion.

I saw that car on Craigslist a couple days ago! Looks clean actually and done right, but that kind of power doesn't really seem to bring reliability into the mix. Gotta love apex silver though! IMO I would continue looking. If something goes wrong it's going to be an expensive fix likely anyways.

If your only going to be driving it for a few months and you have the funds available to buy it and fix anything that can break. Do it. I am sure it is not going to be dd 100 mile round trip. Any evo is reliable with a great tuner and a good driver. I have put 180000 on an 05 EVO VIII on e85 over 400 awhp. I know it is not 900 hp but they are great cars. Do what you want. Buy it or buy the one with less power and build it up your way. Just my opinion, Good luck.

Really the reliability of a car comes down to it's owner more often than not. A reliable build and an owner who keeps up with maintenance will usually have a reliable car. But 900whp in the snow only seems like fun if your not planning on going in a straight line.

Anyone who owns a 900hp car should know what a filled block is...anyways google it and learn.

Sounds like you are more into fast cars than actually working on and building them.

Keep in mind a 900hp 4 cylinder is not a 900hp v8. Lag, stress on the engine etc. But make no mistake, the 4g63 is a BEAST...ppl drive 1000hp evos on the street.

I suggest you go out and find someoe with a fast evo and get a ride.

Just know that you don't just hop in a 900hp 4 banger ( or 6 or even 8) everyday and drive...you will need to pop the hood and look at things and you will need to know how to turn wrenches on it...same goes for your vette although it may require less due to the bigger engine making that power with less stress.

My advice: find a close to stock car and slowly mod it. Or find a well ´built´ 5 to 600hp car...thats perfect for daily driving and doesn't require crazy pistons and what not.

This thread is great!! Just out of curiosity what kind of power is the evo you purchased making? I think 450-600 is the sweet spot for a DD evo.
