why people lie when they sell there evo?

Yep. Here in SoCal too. Happened with my IX. Guy said it was flawless, until I saw it in person. Make sure you test drive the car and have an Evo expert check the car out mechanically. Usually it's easy to spot if it's been in an accident. Check for orange peel, check the fender for cracked paint on the bolts/nuts. Check for uneven clear, rough paint finish.

mine's never been raced. I tried to launch once and i burned the clutch so i never tried again. I just never had the money to do all of the things I had planned on doing to it when I bought it. One track day is $175-$250. I can't afford to get into that hobby.

I checked out a few before I found mine. One person showed me a carfax knock off report, which showed minor front end accident. All but TWO body panels had been painted. Trim around all the windows was bent or beat up. Interior was missing a/c control panels, etc... He couldn't understand why I walked away.

You don't need an ACD system in the Evo. Most Evo owneres remove it. ACD is worthless, AYC is where its at. Too bad it wasn't a feature available on USDM Evos.
And to the original OP. What do you expect? People like money, and some would do whatever it takes to recoup as much as possible.

I recently purchased an evo 8 in Texas with 40000 miles and a little more than a few mods for $24000. Unfortunately I knew absolutely nothing about acd pump issues or transfer case whine, had to learn the hard way.three months and $8000 later I had to by a new rear differential and purchased a stage 2 tcase rebuild from Shep. Now I have to send my pump off to acd tuning for a rebuild, hopefully the motors not shot otherwise that's another $2000. Moral of the story, do your homework and know the car your buying. I've had the worst case scenario with the acd system on this car, I love it and couldn't see myself in anything else, but the owner before me drove this car hard and put it away wet so now I have to clean up the mess. Hope this helps any new evo buyers like myself. Sorry for the rant just felt I had to share my story.

I looked at a couple evo's Took me 5 months. Finally on the 3rd one, I found a mint one that was fully stock with only 33,000 miles. Like everyone said, you can tell when it's been modded.. and I could sense that it was never modded! Glad I found her!

^^^i m glad you can sense that it was never modded.I thought I have that sense too.every bolt and nut was in it's place.I took her to the evo shop.they plugged into ecu and bam the guy says somebody already been here.I don't regret it at all.if somebody converted her back to stock but everything is neet, why not.

I've never launched my car before either. I am too scared to break anything to be honest lol. I know too many evo owners with broken drivetrain parts.
As for the debate, it's not just Evos. It's going to be all cars, but like everyone said, when it comes to these performance cars it's going to be more noticeable/expensive.

yup there are some of us.. i agree with you I am 18 and i can truthfully put money where my mouth is and say i've never modified my car, BUT i've had spirited drives that gave it that push once in a while to make it release the umph it was built for!
