dig into the maintenance history. if the timing belt / water pump hasn't been done yet that'll be a $600 job if you do it and well over $1000 for a shop to do it.

ask for a compression test to be done. bring your own scanner, make sure they didn't clear codes on you. test drive it, listen for any odd suspension, engine or drivetrain noise.

check to see if there were any mods previously done if whoever is selling it says it's "stock". if you aren't confident enough to do all that bring a buddy. if the person / dealer has any issue with these things being done walk away. there's plenty of lower mileage evos on the market right now.

try and see if the person who currently owns it or the dealer can get in contact with a previous owner if any and get information that way.

how much are they asking?

Spend the money and take the car to a mitsubishi dealer for a pre purchase inspection. Spend 100-200 bucks now than thousands later...

+1

There are alot of things that I could have done differently when I bought my first car. Most important is compression/leak down. Also my transfer case went after a few thousand miles of owning it. One way to know if your **** is going is to drain the tranny/tcase fluid and check for shavings. This will save you thousands and is the first thing you should do anyway if you do end up buying the car.

90k does not include the timing belt and waterpump. The 120k does. And 14k is an absolute steal.

Have pics of the car and we can tell you more. I'd agree with above on that's a steal depending on condition and maintenance
