Why do people want to buy unmodified evo?

I look for them with as many quality parts as possible. I look very carefully at the wiring, condition of the bolts, rust, body/interior panels, but everything else is easily repairable. Hacked wiring harnesses are a no-go for me, and repairing broken/stripped bolts is time consuming. Quality aftermarket parts sell quickly, and stock parts are easy to find cheap on the forums. These cars are simple to work on, and parts are readily available.

It's not so much that a modified car is inherently 'bad', it's just the implications and assumptions associated with modded cars (in the minds of potential buyers). Treat each potential used/second hand car individually, have a competent mechanic check it out if you don't know much about cars (start with mechanics that services/specialises in the model car you're interested in).
The car buying guidelines you read about, recommending such things as try to get low mileage, unmodified, with dealership service records, etc. all mean well, and the generalisations might be suited for the vast majority of the population who don't care beyond what colour their cars are, and see them as A to B transportation.
If you're searching for a specialty/low volume car (and I would put Lancer Evolutions amongst that category), don't dismiss an otherwise fine example just because it doesn't meet the criteria of these used car buying guides.

Sorry if i sound like an idiot but I'm 16 and an evo fanatic. I'm really keen to learn all there is about cars and evo's in particular.
Is it because they think they get abused in drag racing? However what if they are modded but used in everyday driving?
Also would the value of stock (unmodded car) be less or more compared to a modded (even the slightest). Sorry if it doesn't make sense. Im trying to learn here.
Also why are some people uninterested to buy a modded evo? It has upgrades (well depends what mods it has)
Thanks for your time! Im in Australia BTW

EDIT: Then again I replied super late to your thread so someone probably has given you a much better answer.

Unless the price is right with a quality modded car do NOT buy. "Stockish" is about the best place to be because more than likely the guy isn't lying about it and always do carfax (not sure what you guys use over there for backgrounds on cars)
If theres been numerous owners thats another bad sign just based off of the math of how many ppl mod their evos. In the end do your homework and you should be okay! Good luck!

The game now is to find the least molested at this point and plan to fix someone else's screw ups or impending mechanical failures. If you mentally prepare that way you aren't caught off guard and left with a sour taste in your mouth.

Evolution 8 & 9 are seriously expensive 25k+ to ~40k compared to the US. Even at low miles evo 9 30k+
Guessing it'll be even more harder and much MORE expensive in couple of years. Since i cant drive Evos until i finish my P's
