Cold Air Temps and Boost

As the temperature decreases, the density of air increases. Logically this means more air is being pushed into the motor via the turbo. What kind of power differences could I expect to see on a summer day (80F) and tomorrow's forecast (-7F)? May some issues arise?

we have swings from -40f to 90f up here and the car handles it. Yes the car runs a little more efficiently the colder it is but it's nothing the car can't handle. After all the maf is mapped to read all the way down to -40c, I think is the unit since its Japanese but doesn't matter -40c converts to -40f, from the factory.

Why push your car hard when its -7? Cant stay off the throttle for a day or two? I look at it like this: Try running outside as fast as you can in this weather and breathing in that super dense air and expecting youre going to be as efficient as if it was 60*...now yes a car is different to a sense but everything has it limits

i would be more worried about getting good traction in that temp then if it was good for the motor or not. If the engine is at Operating temp then cold air is only going to help it make more power.

Don't forget that when it gets that cold and its making more power its because with the colder denser air is most likely making more boost and running a little leaner then what you were tuned for. To answer your question though yes it will make more power for sure, I know I have seen about 25-30 whp /wtrq difference from 35 degree to 95 degree temps on the dyno . Just watch your boost and afr's when it gets super cold.

I wasnt implying that I beat the **** out of my car or that I'm afraid to do so. I was just asking out of curiosities sake. I'm just genuinely interested in the matter

I've noticed I run a little leaner like 11.5 at wot compared to 11.0-11.2 when it's warmer like 50F+ compared to now that it is 0F lol. I am also over boosting some due to the air but I think I have another issue as well. Just monitor those two things and you will be fine.

Essentially its the same thing as running a nos intercooler spray kit. Spraying freezing cold gas onto the intercooler for a more dense charge of air. Some ppl report increases of 20-40 HP with this kit. It's like having a free intercooler spray kit lol. Ya HP will go up but as long as its tuned properly there will be no ill effects and more power is always more fun lol.
