Post EVO VII? Wouldn't next year be evoVIII? Coming or not!

First of all i don't know why Mitsubishi didn't prepare EVO VII for the U.S. market? I don't know why they feel it's not ready for the U.S. market? Well it seems like we're ready for the WRX.

Subaru on the other hand seem like they did their homework! I'm sure they are ready to bring over the sti as soon as Mitsubishi official announce it just to compete or they might use it as a boost in wrx sales if they slow down.

Mitsubishi, if your listening. First of all EVO VII needs to be the same spec as the japanese and price under 30k. If your worried about sales why not 2 different model s one to compete with the wrx and one against the sti like mustang gt and cobras.

If it's a close in performance as japans put me down for an order next year this time or if you keep stalling i'm going for a subaru.

Who here is sick of all the rumors? When is it official?

Its not always a once a year deal.

Look at the EVO-IV, it was around for nearly 2 years, the EVO-V was around for nearly 3, and the EVO-VI has been around for nearly 3 as well. Although, i think that we will probibly see a faster evoluiton rate fromteh VII up, at least for a couple of years.

Mainly becuase of the role the Evo plays with Mitsu in rallying. They are no longer using a Group-A homologation for their cars. And the EVO-VII will be a full WR Car spec. So the need to build a production road special, like the evo, will no longer be as neccasary, HOWEVER, the Evo-VII, becuase it is using a new chassis this year (the cedia), has had to go through alot of refinment just to get it to a level that was better then the 6.5 (i.e Evo-VI TME), im sure they will be hastly trying to produce somthing even better to really acheive a new higher level of performance that is leaps and bounds beyond the current 7. So im sure the 8 wont be THAT far behind. But i also wonder if perhaps they will scrap teh cedia, and the Evo-VII will become a one year car. Meaning, that if they truly want to make the car international, and not a grey market vehicle, they will have to do some serious redesigning to get it to meet US and European crash safty measures. And the Cedia may not be the chassis that will allow them to do that. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens in 2002 before we will really understand what they have in mind.

Unless I find out the EVO is coming in the next few hours I am going to be ording a WRX tomorrow. Even though the WRX is here and I am going to buy one I think Subaru rushed to get it to market. There are some minor problems with the car...some people excuse the problems because its a brand new model but I dont think that is an excuse. I still am buying one though... I am just hoping that mine does not have any problems.

The main reason why the Evolution models won't be here from Mitsubishi is the fact that they are very limited production.
Right now Mitsubishi is in the hole, and they are not going to make a huge investment on selling only 1000 cars. The Evolution does not share much with the base model lancer, so there is not cost savings to be had there.
Ever notice how cheap the WRX interior is? The performance is good, but they had to cut costs somewhere. Taking a risk on selling 10k of them too.
The last limited production model was the Galant VR-4 and Mitsubishi lost money on it.

Well of course the Galant VR-4 wouldn't sell well. Why, as a performance enthusiast would you buy a VR-4, when you know the EVO is ou there?

There was no EVO when the Galant VR-4 was sold in the US. The Galant VR-4 EVO was the WRC until the EVO I came out the next year.
In the US the Galant VR-4 are 1991 and 1992 models only. EVO I was a 93 model.

The bigest thing about the Galant VR-4 was that it was a saloon, and not a performance car. THe biggest problem with the US is that they judge performance solely on looks. And the VR-4 is not what you would call a "high performance styling" vehicle.
That and why buy a high performance family sedan, when you could buy a lighter, sportier, and better looking Eclipse/Talon, which contained the exact same engine and drive train.

So thats probibly one of the main factors that killed the VR-4. But, if you look around now, how many people want to sell their VR-4's? Almost no one.

I can only hope that mitsu doesnt look at its former sales of cars liek the 3000GT VR-4, and Galant VR-4, and doesnt base its product market off of the trim level "OZ Rally Edition". If they do that...we'll never see an Evo.

Also, I think I remember reading that Mistu didn't advertise the Galant VR-4 at all! So it was like a sleeper hit sort of
