Odd ticking

So my car developed an odd ticking noise. It's an 05 VIII GSR, minor bolt ons. I can only hear under throttle, most notably under heavy load (low RPM). It sounds like three things: Injector tick, exhaust leak, or an EGR valve. Now, I know Evo's are notorious for injector tick, and I know the difference, but this is noticeably louder than the injectors, but only while driving. I checked my exhaust from the manifold to the rear muffler and everything appears tight. I even went as far as running a white piece of paper along the manifold and turbo gaskets to see if any black smoke would appear as if I had a blown gasket, but it was clean. I'm not sure what to look for anymore. It only at the front of the vehicle and most notably while driving. Any suggestions?

I'm getting something like that too I think. I hear a ticking and it matches throttle. It gets louder as I step on it. Only when I first drive after starting it up for the first time in the day. After the car warms up, it goes away (kinda).

Same thing here except mine doesn't go away after being warm. No one else seems to know?

EBC as in Electronic Boost Controller? Not really sure what you're referring to.

Alos, definitely doesn't sound like lifters. This started a couple days after I did a drivetrain flush, but none of that would have anything to do with it. The only other thing I can think of is doing 60k maintenance about a 3 weeks ago. It honestly sounds like the injectors ticking, but it's SO much louder when under load.

How many miles on your engine? Maybe its time for a valve adjustment. This involves taking the cam cover off and checking for clearances in the lifters and replacing shims if necessary.

If for some reason you were running none synthetic oil and switched to synthetic, the engine noise can get loader.

I just rolled 121k. It runs like it has 60k but regardless it's got some miles. Maybe the timing is off and its affecting the valves? I was having trouble lining the belt up perfectly but eventually got it just right (so I thought at least). But again that was a month ago. I would think it would take affect faster than that if it was a head issue. As far as oil is concerned I've been running RedLine everything for the past year and a half.

Redline makes some of the best oil on the market. It is a bit pricey compared to m1 and might be a bit overkill even on a lightly modded evo.

OP, I think the best way to solve this problem is to take your evo to the nearest reputed evo specialist for a diagnosis. Broken valves is NOT conducive to your cars health.
