Rebuilt Tittle Evo Questions
So looking for a
2003-2006 VIII/IX Evo.
A evo popped up with a rebuilt tittle.
Seems to only have been front end damage. Inter cooler/bumper/radiator replaced is what im being told ( Who knows exactly what happened)
The car is a white evo IX GSR
car has a 2005 bumper on I asked the owner and said it was put on to save money. So my guess is insurance company game him the money. Went with a 05 front end and pocked the rest he save instead of going with the IX bumper.
Seems to only be a 3 owner. Waiting on vin to carfax.
Has it listed for almost 17k. There is about 80k on the Odo.
Whats the general idea about rebuilt titles on these cars?
Do they still hold their value? Or did the car sink in the 10-14k range?
Any tips or just general info would be great. Thank you.

Meh idk thats expensive for a rebuilt title as far as im concerned. Theres some on here for sale for around 17 with clear titles. Regardless that its a ix which I would check very carefully it still is to expensive

Dont bother with a salvage/rebuild title. There is so much you gotta worry about when buying a clean title evo, i wouldnt even risk it on something you know has sustained enough damage to be totaled.

Yeah. I was just curious.
Haven't had much luck finding anything in my Area. I was up north for 2 weeks trying to find something there.
Back down in Florida now. Seems impossible to find a decent evo.
And when they do come up there nearly 20grand at 100k +miles.

I would be fine with a rebuilt title as
Long as I KNOW why it was rebuilt. If te title was salvage because someone broke the window and stole the interior then it wouldn't matter to me. An accident is a different story. Some clean title cars have seen the worst of days and remain clean title simply because nothing was reported. Find out why it's rebuilt and assess the situation. If it really was nothing bad then the price seems decent. Just do a lot more homework when buying a rebuilt that's all

seller could get more for it. I should hope you arnt looking at the kbb for that quote lol. Go on copart auto auctions and watch live bids for yourself. Evos with completely smashed rear ends go for almost 10k sometimes.

I highly suggest staying away from salvage/rebuilt title cars. But if your really wanting this thing, have the current owner get the car aligned and send you the sheet. That'll tell you how hard it was hit in the front.

I'd for sure want hard documentation of what sort of incident caused the car to be written off in the first place. It's easy to theorize about this or that as the possible on here, but if it was serious enough to be written off I'd more than likely steer clear...

I wouldn't be any more scared of buying a salvage Evo vs a clean title Evo that's been wrecked. Just make sure the car is true. For an Evo to thrash around in, a salvage title makes sense IMO. Just remember that if you do decide to sell the car down the road, it will be harder to sell than a clean title car since most people are scared to buy one. If they were educated about them, people would be more willing to buy... because knowledge eradicates fear.
Oh, and you should be able to get a better deal on that car. Just know that with Evo IX's, salvage title ones still generally sell for a good amount though.

Could be a headcase... 17k is too much but i seen guys ask more for salvage title evos. Guy in LA was selling a WW IX mr with jdm goodies for 21k (salvage title). I thought he was crazy but someone ended up buying it.

There's nothing wrong with saving any vehicle as long as you understand what problems you face down the road. Resale, paint issues, ect. I have saved many vehicles but I bought them first hand and second hand. All depends on situation.
