Irritating listening to guys like you trying to kill a legit post. What r u doing here anyway? Its all about conversation. Post count, was yours even necessary. Think about it.
Gtr is expensive, but I think the evo is probably a good starting point for what the gtr is. I would be all over it if it was 35000 40000 cheaper. Take care...

I agree. Totally different types of cars. Its funny to see that you will always have these types of threads in every car forum. I remember back in the days on the mr2 forums, this same type of thread would pop up asking if they would trade in their mr2 turbo for a Porsche Cayman, when it first came out.
.........totally different cars.

I stand by this. The evo is the king of 4 bangers. I'm talking about as an ALL AROUND car. That's my opinion. The GTR IS just the king period, but there's a huge price point. Your talking about a(now) $115,000 car brand new. And EXHAUST SYSTEM alone from ETS(who is considered a bargain company) is $5,500 and an intercooler system from ETS is $4,000. Think about that for a bit. Imagine what the prices are from AMS or Buschur. The evo is a bargain vehicle no matter how you look at it, and let's not forget who absolutely annihilates in world class time attack...that's right

I agree on these cars being two different animals. The Evo is my favorite 4 cylinder turbocharged car by far. The GT-R is a monster and does require a pretty hefty budget when modding but we are also talking about a car that makes 2x the HP as the Evo on most builds.
I'm sure if the GT-R price dropped down into the 40's you would see a TON of evo owners switching platforms. The GT-R with bolt on's and stock turbochargers can make 600hp easily.

I couldn't part with my evo so i kept it and got a GTR
insurance isn't bad in fact its cheaper than my first evo (back in 03)
maintenance is over rated normal oil changes (no brad penn like i run in the evo)
18k tranny oil change not bad for the diy person.
Now the GTR TAX is crazy but if you are a shopper you will be fine.
the nice thing about the GTR is you don't have to go crazy to make it a beast.
lookup SBD700 ( low 10's for under 6k)
http://speed-by-design.myshopify.com...-power-package
I have over 12k in my evo (10.38)
if your not looking for a brand new GTR you can find used ones for around 50k and up.
i remember when the evo8 got to the states people compared the dsm's the same way
