Im getting frustrate about this WHP!!

Hello Guys, Yesterday I went to a DynoJet to get my car tuned but I got back home disappointed about the result I got, I have an Evo 8 2005 with Evo 9 turbo at 27psi, Hallman MBC, turboxs BOV, Injen pipes, Cams GSC 272/272, 850cc injectors, wiseco 9.0.1 piston with manley rod, BC spring and retainers, the only thing I need to put on is the FMIC because Im still using the stock one, With 91oct my car gave me 310whp and 339 torque. My tuner told that I need to replace the Intercooler for a bigger one but I dont think an intercooler can give more than 40whp also told me to switch the Cams to HKS 272/272 because he thinks the cams are bad because i bought them used on ebay for $200 and he thinks the cams are the problem, but Im getting crazy about this because I spent to much money on this and I only pull 310WHP, what is so low for all that I have. I want to know is some of you have pass for this or if you can give any suggestion or thing to change please feel free to help thanks for your attention.

Getting GSC S2's for that price is kinda fishy. If they are truly S2's then swapping them for HKS cams is retarded. HKS 272's are notoriously mild. Is your tuner a specialist on Evo's? If he is not find another tuner.

You are not going to see big gains on 91. I have full bolt ons with out cams. Made 300/300 on my Evo 8 with 9 turbo with crappy 91

really i though viii/ix responded alot better than that to bolt ons or is it the 91oct holding it back

272s are S1 not S2. S2 are 274 and changing them for HKS is not going to get you more HP

OP, something is not right. Did you or your tuner do a boost leak test? I take it you're running a Walbro 255. Can you post up your dynograph?

Well, I have 255 walbro on it also, He check boost leak and everything look good when he hit 27psi at 4000rpm start getting down at 5500 to 24psi to 25. Do you think that I need to get a bigger intercooler? thanks

The intercooler would help quite a bit, especially at 27 psi on a stock turbo. Without a larger intercooler you're probably just blowing hot air back into the engine which is definitely going to hurt whp. That being said, I'm not trying to dog on your tuner but most Evo tuners know better than to run that high of boost with a stock turbo/intercooler. I believe most recommend only running boost to the low 20s on a stock intercooler. Any higher than that and you're just heat soaking it. Swapping GSCs for HKSs is also a bad idea.

Get the new intercooler and contact Tom @ TSCompUSA for a tune. He is very good and can probably help you find more issues and help you resolve them.

Make sure you have an bigger licp and a true 3" inch turboback exhaust.

Making more TQ then HP usually means there is a breathing problem up top. Have the cams been degreed? Perhaps the Intake cam is a little retarded.

Kinda confused. A boost leak test should not be done while driving the car. It almost sounded like you were referring to boost taper while driving.

Did you do a boost leak test? With an air compressor? Sorry to be redundant.

Well, what intercooler you recommend for stock turbo? do you think with all mods I have 310whp are good enough or I need to get better numbers with 91oct? thanks

What numbers are you expecting? Is 91 the best gas you can get where you live? What power were you at before the tune? Or in other words what gains did you make after the tune.

iv got 340 whp on an 05 evo 8, no cams, full boltons, fuel pump 1200cc injectors tuned for 93......so id say you def have an issue being that you have the cams in there. Who installed the cams? Is this tuner any good?
