Purchased a very low mileage 2003 EVO.

This car has maybe been driven 1300 miles a year for the last ten years. What kind of maintenance should I do? After ten years shouldn't the timing belt be starting to dry rot?

One another forum a guy owns a 1991 3000 GT with the original antifreeze in it. That can't be good.

Anyway, I'd do the 60K maintenance.

Well I got the car today and found some interesting things...

1. The wings clear coat is f%$ked up.

2. Lopey idle

3. A Perrin turboback in the trunk

4. A Xede thing behind the glove box

5. A couple stock camshafts in HKS boxes and stock fuel pump in the trunk along with the stock lower intercooler pipe

6. A clutch that engages like a bull with a purple pressure plate ( have a borescope )

7. Vishnu stickers everywhere

8. Car still feels slower than the Stock Evo 6.5 I had in Okinawa. Maybe ditch the piggy back and go with a flash from Kozmic here in Houston?

9. No boost guage no way to track AFRs, going to hook a scan guage up to her tomorrow to record map readings to figure out max boost.

Well thought she was stock...sneaky bastards

Get rid of the exede. Way old technology. The lope is probably from having the untuned hks cams in there and sounds like an exeedy twin clutch.

Do the 60k maintence and a proper tune and you should be good to go.

Why do folks complain about this interior? It's actually quite nice compared to other 2003 vehicles like my Boxster S. I think it is more comfortable and cleaner than the Evo X MR I drove.

Well no codes, 22 psi, very low knock voltage at max boost. I think this is a Vishnu Staged package...older because its using a piggyback.

I actually had that same vishnu package back in 2003-2004 on my 1st evo and it ran really well. Low 12's and very consistent. Much better options these days.

The timing belt is HKS with adjustable can gears. Lord a stock looking engine bay can be deceiving .

Its been so long I cant remember, I think you had to send the unit back to them for different maps to be loaded. At least the version I had.
