Yeah I would just trim the bumper a little if you can.

I think the 9 bumper looks better. You would need to shave a lil bit on the sides that are touching and u should be good. Good luck

 

I am keeping the 9 bumper. I already have a OEM hood and looking for the OEM lip which has been impossible to find. I just need that lip then it's going in for paint.

 

I have to agree with you on that one.

My car is an EVO IX..

so having a IX bumper...i personally feel that the IX's does not look as aggressive as the EVO VIII bumper.

It only has the more modern feel/look to it… the placebo of a "I've got a more newer model/looking car than the old 8 now because of this". Since the OP mentioned "Upgrading"… i don't think that would be the right term if you were to replace it… as there is no gain with the IX bumper, i don't seriously think the oval ducts do much to "cool the intercooler pipe" as advertised by Mitsubishi at the time.

The VIII bumper looks just as aero and efficient. And sometimes its a fact that Manufacturers NEED to come up with a "face-lift" to help boost sales as the model/design gets old.



But i love the look of the VIII … with the triangle section in the middle of the grille that lines up with the curve of the bonnet.

I can seriously NEVER get enough of the look of the FQ-400, that awesome Lip & that awesome colour ("Color" in US).

By the way, I'm not sure if the IX came in this colour.. but i have seen people in the states paint it to match… and it just never looks as good as the VIII

well its older, but looks more mean.

 

Nose chopped 8 is easily the most aggressive bumper on the CT9A. If I had my IX I'd def. swap mine for a 8 and chop it. Looks way too good with the Do-Luck lip.
