100 octain gas = power??

Do you think simply if I mix 50% 91 octane gas and 50% 100 octane gas I will gain power or will I loose power since my ecu is not tuned for higher octane gas?

I live in cali with 91 octane.

The stock ECU can advance timing to utilize all the way to 94octane. anymore your just wasting $ for zero gain.

Every 4-5 octane points = increase boost 1 psi.. WITHOUT the factory ECU pulling timing 'cause the Knock sensor detects no detonation(as there is none) 110 = 23 psi 118 = 24/25psi every pound = mega hp My stage IV is 50+ HP up on the 110 (23psi)over the 91 "street tune"(18psi)

You will definitely feel more power and smoother acceleration. I would not mix 50/50. It's a waste for street driving. Since the tank is 14 gal, mix 3 to 4 gals of 100 and the rest 91 to give you about 93.5 octane. I have been mixing for a while and I am flashed for 91 and still feel gains with higher octane.

In case robi's post was confusing, he is saying that with more octane you can safely add boost, if you have the means to do it (boost controller, reflash, etc.). Like BozzEvo said though, anything past about 94 octane won't be exploited with an otherwise stock Evo.

With higher octane you're less likely to feel the "dead zone" around 5000rpm that you might feel with 91 octane because the ECU is falling into the detonation map due to knock sensor activity.

I for one am just bitter about the fact that we get **** 91 compared to others who pay less for 93....

I'm planning to just run 1g xylene/12g 91 pump gas..... which gives you an even 93 octane....

I am bitter now too just having tried the 100 octane mixed with 91. Engine is stronger and smoother. Adds quite a bit of torque throughout the rev range. Love it...except for the $5.50/gal.

Out here it's $3.95 for 100 and steady for the last 6 months or so even though 91 is about $2.40 right now and going up every day. I mix 3.5 gal then top off. I gas up at about a little under 1/4.

I saw a guy with Dynoflash/Bushar turboback (catless), MBC,intake, SAFA get 340 to the wheels on 100 octane race gas.

The guy was running at 24psi.

The power with race gas is sick

We have 100 octane at the pump here and it sells for 3.25 gal. When running the higher octane I can run 23 psi and not get one bit of detonation.

I have to ride out to BFE to get it, but I try to fill up with 100 octane at Sunoco, it makes a noticeable difference and it's only $3.99/gl.
