UICP fitment help!

when I bought my evo the previous owner did a HPI FMIC but as you can see the UICP has some fitment issues because the battery had to be placed sideways, is there a way I can modify the pipe to fit better so I can turn the battery the proper way or is this normal when changing the pipe

There is no way to modify the pipe unless you plan on banging it slightly flat at certain points to fit. Now you are disrupting airflow however. This is the reason many people have relocated the battery to the trunk to free up underhood space mainly for the uicp.

edit, if you know anybody that is good with a welder anything is possible.

I have never seen any assembly quite like that. Most just clear the battery when it's the correct way. As long as you aren't rubbing I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's hard to see from the last picture if you are but I can see it is real close.

If you are not rubbing you should just leave it.

Or you can modify your tray and swap your OEM battery for a group 51R battery to free up some space but allows you to keep a good battery . I had lot of hard time this winter with my mini battery kit and my short route UICP . I did not wanted to relocate , neither change my short route for a long route so here is what i did .
