Small battery kit from hell

soo let me tell you guys a little story.

I placed an order for a small battery kit and Odyssey pc680 battery from VR Speed Factory.

1. an employee forgot to ship my package and had it in their car trunk for 4 days. After sending out another shipment. (honest mistake that anyone can make).. no hard feelings over it.
The kit is real easy to install and takes only 30min at tops!! material seams to be good stuff.

2. the battery is shipped from a supplier warehouse in California. i don't know what the odds are of getting a bad battery but it happened to me
the battery came out the box at 10.5v. when it would get hooked up to the car it instantly dropped to 5v. when tried to charge the battery it would not accept any charge no matter the amperage.

3. i contacted VR Speed Factory about it and they said to talk to the supplier about it. they told me to send the battery back to them and they will exchange it with no charge.

went to ship the battery IT COST $36 TO SHIP. not $12 which it cost me the first time.

Sorry to hear that. Read a lot of ups and downs of the race mini battery. So I went with a miata battery instead. Hope you get refunded since vr said "no charge"

If you had that much of a voltage drop just by hooking it up to the car you might have a bad ground. You shouldn't get any voltage drop by just having the battery connected to the car. at 10.5V, it should even start the car.

I had a pc680. I never had any issues with it other than slow cranking. That was enough for me to ditch the battery and now I have an oem sized Miata battery relocated to the trunk. I would go this route imo. I would never put a PC680 again, even if It was just a weekend track car. That's my .02 cents though. ymmv.

I was going to order the Muse mini battery tray/pc680 battery tomorrow. I'm having second thoughts now after reading this.

The battery post on those batteries are very fragile. I think Max torque is 35in/lbs. Very easy to over-torque and break the post connection internally. Ask me how I know!

I have the Odyssey PC925 instead of the 680. It's been perfect, never a slow start and it has way more cca then the 680. Just a thought. I live in Chicago so small batteries scared me but this one has been rock solid. Even last week when I was having fuel pump issues and cranked the car over and over for days, finally got the fuel thing worked out, but the 925 never gave up or started slow starting. That battery is amazing. The 925 that is.

Do it right, and move the battery to the trunk ( and install using the Evo X fussible link in the front) The best way to do it, way cheaper, and it's still functional just my suggestion.

Just shoot me an e-mail and I'll get you a shipping label, you absolutely shouldn't be responsible for shipping charges on a new warrantied product.

I'd also be very careful torquing the terminals, anything over 4lbs of torque can harm the battery and most DOA's end up being caused by improper terminal installation due to over torquing.

The 680 is a bit to small when it's cold out that's for sure. 10.5v under a load would be the test if it loads up and drops to 5v no way that thing will start. I ditched my 680 and went with a decent size battery In the trunk, I'm 100% happier that I did, cranks over every time,

!!!!UPDATE!!!!

I finally received another battery under warranty today.
came out the box at 12.8v and when put in my car, it started right up!!!

so to say the least, the first battery i got was a dead one. probably 1/1000 chance
