well first thing i did whe i got my evo i did all the maint. water pump, timing belt w/kit, thermostat, spark plugs, wires, and flushed every fluid and i mean every fluid from power steering to diff. So I suggest do all the maint. first before you mod it, so you know the is gonna run on its full potential and you know everything was done instead of someone telling you it was done, but like the guy above me said check the stickies they will help

Sounds like the best thing to do before I do any mods, thanks. Where exactly are the stickies? sorry I'm a complete noob to the forum and Evo scene.

I have an EVO IX, never drove an evo 8 but mine has the works. Cams, bigger fmic, tbe, injectors, stock IX turbo. It makes 420whp on e85 and 390whp on 93. I dont see ever needing more than this for a street car. Spools way faster than my suby did too and is a hoot to drive.

EvoIX MR has better tolerances in terms of the engine being built so 10% less oil consumption. WAY better OEM cams, so way more power over an VIII with stock cams. Obviously the Evo IX Turbo makes more power, and of course the MIVEC.

Other than that same car basically.

Do you think Royal Purple is a good choice for the evo?
