Dodged a bullet today

I was driving when I noticed my engine temp bouncing all over the place, after a couple minutes the cars temp read normal so I kept driving keeping an eye on it constantly. 30 mins later I pull up to a stop light and my car starts erupting like a fog machine on steroids. So I pulled my car over asap and found this

One of the turbo coolant hoses burst mid driving so i hiked to the nearest auto store and made a replacement. The car runs fine now and I gave her a rough shakedown to make sure if was safe to daily again.

Does anyone know who sells silicone hoses for the turbo coolant lines?

thanks roach85, I'd much prefer a higher quality hose cause the oem rubber tends to rot where a silicone hose would degrade slower and last longer

I went to napa auto parts and bought 2 feet of the blue silicone hoses. this happened to me twice, so I check it once a year. the silicone seems to be holding up really well. I changed the bottom one also, just in case. it was starting to wear. I also looped the throttle body hose into the block, so I have to check that too.

What is the ID measurement on this?
I want to get some silicone reinforced lines to replace mine before any issues arise.

The only thing that I noticed when I pulled that line is that the hose was very degraded and rotted. It felt like play dough in my hand.

As for the head gasket I wouldn't know what i'd be looking for. Any ideas?

This.

Your hose failed because they are old. Replace it with an oem one and call it a day. 10 years is a long time and I call that a pretty resilient hose. You may be able to protect it with something like this.. http://www.designengineering.com/cat...eeve-tape-kits
