A few days ago my MIL came on and threw a code for the egr valve. I know a lot of people have issues with them blowing off vacuum lines, but that isn't the case. I removed the egr and cleaned it with some carb cleaner, and put zip ties on every vacuum hose I saw without one.

When I'm driving the car, if I initially drive in conditions where the egr won't function the car runs fantastic. But as soon as I hit a steady cruise for a few miles and the egr comes into play, my idle and vacuum is terrible from that instance on. It's like it's not closing when it should, as once that happens the car feels very sluggish and has a loss of power.

I'm about ready to deem it the solenoid as I have cleaned the egr, even though I know it still could possibly be the valve itself. But does this sound like a malfunction on the control side or the actuator side?

I would, but I don't have anyway to disable it through the PCM. That's why I'm hoping I can get by with just replacing the solenoid

 

Ok so I bench tested the solenoid. It clicks as normal but I don't really understand normal operation of the system. Not energized it flows through line Y and G. But energized it flows through line G and W of the solenoid. Anybody know how the system is supposed to properly operate?
