When I start the car and just start to drive out, the car make a loud "higher pitched" whining noise for about 2-5 seconds. Like something is priming. Like either the ABS brake fluid, or ACD fluid. I checked all fluids and they are at max level. No leaking.

Anyone have any ideas?? It's Evo IX MR, 115k miles. It only happens after car has been sitting for several hours. And occasiaonly when I hit hard pot holes. So I led to believe it's the ABS or Master Brake cylinder that sits against the firewall.

I am very confused and don't know if anyone has ever heard or had this problem. So it's got to be a "priming" noise since it only happens at start up.

It's worth a shot but are you running even sized tires across all 4? Or a staggered setup?

Maybe wear indicator tabs on the brake pads

 

but it's coming from engine bay. And the breeaks were brand new only 8 months ago...and it only happens when i am starting the car. Sometimes when I am not even moving. Sometimes when I just reve the engine for the first time it makes the noise. So then I think it's something other than ACD or ABS. but what would cause a whining noise when priming.....when first starting the car. Possible Fuel pump? but that would come from below the seat not the engine bay.

 

It could be the starter. If its not properly disengaging then it could make some serious noise.

 

But it makes noise sometimes on the go after the car has already been started and moving. That's why I'm so confused

 

Sounds like a loose belt to me.
