Put mine in yesterday. I go back and forth about it. It was cheap and easy to install, so why not, and there is that bling factor. Then again, as has been pointed out you can't park in 1st if you use it, and your passengers don't know when to get out of the car if you don't shut it down. Like you're walking into the restaurant and your buds are like "dude, you forgot your keys dumbass!"
I think there's times when I'll use it more than others, lets just say that.

IMO I realy don't think the EVO needs a TT. Not to mention all the other new cars that are now rolling off the lot with factory turbos. With both water and oil cooling, these style turbos are very efficient in not only doing their job performance wise but they are designed for American Joe Blow's flying to work and having to shut off their cars almost immediately. If they were needed don't you think these cars would come with one from the factory? The main reason behind the TT is to cool down the OIL in the turbo to prevent the oil from cooking in the turbo, and locking it up, after shutting down the car. Auto makers know how we are going to drive the cars, and design them accordingly. If you want something to help, then get an oil cooler. This will help your piece of mind factor knowing your oil is already cool. Not to mention lengthening the time you have to run your car hard. But if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you want some neat Electronics to play with, Why the hell not!

As far as the girls *****n', My girl has a lightly modded WRX and she know the shut down procedure.

Just my 2Œnts.

I think the whole point of this post is so the original poster can get some numbers. Not for people's opinions on the effectiveness or non-effectiveness of the timer.

I have an Apexi and I use it cause I like the extra safety margin, the bling factor, and it was not hard to install.

Also, I live in Florida and when summer hits and the temp is 100 degrees and 100% humidity the last thing I want to do is sit in my car. I want to get out and get where ever I am going so I can get back into AC.

Final Answer is: Yes, I have one.

Actually, because you made the claim that "turbo timers do increase the life of your turbos", the burden of proof is on you to show that they do so for the Evo, not on others to show that they do not.

I don't use a TT because I always leave my Evo in gear when I park it...extra insurance against rolling away...I just drive casual the last mile or so or let it idle for 30-60 seconds before turning it off. The Evo uses Mobil 1 synthetic, so it doesn't coke up like regular oil, anyway.

Thank you Scooter, thats all I wanted. I don't want to argue about if you need one or not. I just wanted to show that they are a fairly common thing.

Yes.... try asking the wife to sit in the car for 60sec. or so. I can do it but the wife's time is more important than mine.

i have one but its not installed....what does that mean i do let my car idle after driving it... turbo timer is just extra bs...but if u can get it cheap why not. get a dei alarm that has remote start and let the car idle afterwards...with a real alarm on it...makes more sense...no TT needed

I guess the moral of the story is, if you have 100 spare bucks go for it!

I love my TT, just like some ppl have posted, spectators are amazed when I get out of my car and its still running but I have my keys in my hands, plus I like it tells me the battery voltage. And passengers always ask me what the TT is. I definitely suggest a oil catch can w/the TT. If we have spent this much on our EVOs y not spend a little bit, to protect it?
