Evo X Envy....

Don't be ashamed to go auto. My DD is a 2014 Jetta, 6spd auto. It's a nice change-up from the Evo and sometimes if I need to run to the store or something quick, it's so much easier throwing it in drive and running my errand.

Yea an auto as a DD isn't bad at all. I have had my 8 with multiple dd's and enjoyed my 04 ford taurus the most actually. So quiet, easiest car ever to drive, ice cold a/c, tons of room, decent mpg and cheap. However now that my 8 is almost paid off an X does sound like a good new DD option. Worst case if I want get my speed fix I just go home and take out my 8 or zx10. Can never have too many options.

I was actually really considering leasing a new Jetta too, or a Chevy Cruze, They're both very inexpensive to lease!

My Jetta is leased. Did the "sign and drive" thing. I was about a grand upside down on my 2005 SRT-10 truck and owed like 15k on it still. I wanted out from under it and they paid it off and I put no money down on the Jetta. Walked out of there without paying a dime and got a 2014 car with like 10 miles on the odometer. It's a nice car. Other than not having nav I have no complaints about it for what it is. Pretty peppy too when the turbo spools up and you put it in sport mode or "manual" shift mode.

The X's are starting to grow on me little by little. A guy in my apartment complex has a X that I see everyday when I come home which has helped my eyes start to like it. BUT, any show I go to, any G2G, people always compliment my 8 and say they like the 8/9 body better than the 10. Especially since my 8 has a 9 MR interior and 7in in-dash monitor.

I am thinking of doing a X MR for daily use when I have my 9 paid for. This way the wife can drive it too. I would most likely keep it stock except for wheels and some lowering springs. Maybe... lol

Love my 8 but totally agree with wanting a comfortable DD. Right now my commute to work is 7 miles roundtrip so that helps. If I had had to drive more to work, I would be looking into something else. Having no payment helps but sometimes I want a quiet run to the store.
X is nice but not as raw as ours now. And after 2015 they are gone.

As someone who has had 3 CT9As and 2 CZ4As, may be able to give insight.
It all depends what you're looking for. IMO, the X offers just as much thrill factor as the CT9A, just in different ways. I could definitely corner harder in the Xs than my IXs / VIII, and the IX has coils, all of the braces, rsb, etc. But the IX is a bit more nimble and lighter. Also LOVE the CT9A 6 speed over the X 5 speed. But my favorite transmission for tracking is definitely the SST in manual mode. Just wouldn't ever want to be on the hook to replace one.
All in all, the X still has the spirit of the evo line. It's a GREAT tracking car, not so much a great drag car. If you plan on hitting corners hard, the X is your car.
I say do both
